inhalers

Friday, June 20th, 2008

this is a text i got out of the blue one day:

hey no big deal but if you happen to find an inhaler please let me know. in the mean time, i’ll be passed out on my steering wheel with the horn blaring. no rush, enjoy your weekend if i don’t hear from you.

had no idea who it was from. turns out it was one of my coworkers. man was that funny.

mock drawing

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

the last two weeks i’ve spent half of my time working on a mock drawing for work. it’s going to be used as the base of every drawing that my office makes so every drawing looks uniform and pretty. so this has been going on for a while and is a ton of work but will be worth it in the long run. but the good news is i just submitted it for final review so i’m almost done with it. which is awesome for me and also for the company because my last day of work is friday so this kind of has to be done before i leave.

f shaving

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

today i decided to be fancy and dress up for work. i am giving a presentation at work and then have a meeting for asce at school tonight so i wore a tie. i know, i know, that’s really dressing up. but it is for me. anyway, on this day that i decided to be fancy and wear a tie, i forgot to shave. i’m such a douche.

was just leaving work at 5:05, in fact had already left the office and was walking down the hallway to the front door of the building, when my boss ducks his head out the door and grabs me by the shirt collar. not literally, but you get the point. hung around work until 5:45 or so fixing another persons mistake. normally i wouldn’t mind, but i was trying to get to mnh on time. not only that, but i this same person had made this same mistake last week. i spent half an hour fixing his mistake last week, told him about it and how to avoid making the same mistake again, and then i end up doing it again. drives me crazy.

so i got home about 6:45, met kay at there, made a quick pb&j sandwich and off to hockey we went. there were some new people there, which was cool, and we had a good time. but kay caught a puck to the knuckles while playing goalie. so i made her come back to my house and ice it for like 30 minutes before going home.

my room is still a mess and i need to clean it. but i really want to just wait until i move out in july. that way i will have less stuff stored in my room and won’t have to go through it all right now. plus i need to start putting things aside (which in my room means in the middle of the floor) for moving back to boston so if i organize and clean it all now, it’ll just get messy again in a few weeks.

last summer i had big plans to build a stone retaining wall in my back yard to get rid of an awkward slope we have back there and to form a clear delineation between the yard and the woods. i started cutting into the slope and moving all of the rocks i found while digging into a pile in the backyard near the fence around the pool. i was very gung-ho about it for about three days. i never finished it, had to go back to school in july and left the pile of rocks there. we just poured a new concrete patio around the pool so my folks wanted the pile of rocks cleaned up to make the backyard look a little nicer. so kay and i moved the pile of rocks back to where i dug them out from a year ago. while moving the rocks we found a snake and kay killed it with a shovel.

when the pile of rocks was cleared, we were feeling accomplished and energized so we started to vacuum and wash our cars. but, like with me and the stone wall, we ran out or time and had to get ready to go to will’s graduation dinner.

i guess will had invited a bunch of his family to a graduation dinner at a hall but then like half the family couldn’t come. so he invited a bunch of us to the hall to help eat the food and celebrate his graduation 6 months late. food was good and we had a good time, but had to get going early to help my dad build a porch on the new concrete patio.

my dad, corey and i worked on the patio for a few hours then my nana and papa, uncle doug and cousin kerri came over and he had grinders for dinner. after dinner we went back out and worked on the porch until dark. it’s coming along faster than i expected and we only messed up a little bit so far and that was easily fixed. no harm, no foul, right?
